The Challenge
The business community is constantly changing. Not only is there more change than ever, but the rate of change is more rapid, including attitudes about work. Individuals more frequently consider themselves "self-employed free agents" who have to drive their own careers. The younger generations want more training but they also want to be empowered and incented, based on their contribution to the overall business goals of the organization. Finding the correct balance between shared values and diversity of viewpoints is challenging. Conflicts between the younger generations and the old-line management that go uncorrected have become a significant obstacle to the success of the organization.
